I always buy personal gifts for immediate family but for people you don't see too often or for extra gifts that come up I think gift cards are great. Especially if its someone you don't know what to buy for or if they already have most things. Gift cards are nice. I know when my hubby and I got married we "loved" when we got gift cards from people because there were a few items we didn't get on our registry and we could pool some gift cards together to get some larger items. Gift cards are good.

i sometimes give giftcards to my grown children that live in other states simply because im not around to see what they need/want. i figure that they can get exactly what they need/want that way
