Companies rely on using various methods to sell their products. Two of these methods are planned and perceived obsolescence. Planned obsolescence occurs when a company decides to make consumer products in such a way that they become useless and outdated within a specific time period. Perceived obsolescence occurs when an item is functional, but is no longer perceived to be stylish or appropriate, so it is rendered obsolete.
