Recently a 52 year old California woman was arrested for the production and distribution of child porn and child sex trafficking. The police acquired the images in 2007 but could not identify the woman until this January when they asked the public for help. Clearly if they had posted pictures of her tattoos earlier they might have been able to find and arrest her long ago, as well as saving who knows how many children. Do you think the police should post tattoos of such people in newspapers and ask for the public's help as soon as they get such images?
Yes, if they posted pics of the tattoos right away, someone probably would've come forward in 2007!

No, the police should work to find the person on their own and only ask for the public's help as a last resort

How long do you think police should have waited to post pics of the woman's tattoos and ask the public for help in identification?
They should not have waited at all and posted the tattoos when they got them in 2007

After they tried to find the woman themselves for 6 months without results

Normally the police do not post pictures of faces of the molestors in order to protect the privacy of the child. Do you think they should post faces of the molestors and ask the pubilc for help in identifying them?
Yes, the child's safety and the safety of other children is more important than the privacy issues

No, posting pics of the faces of the molestor(s) (not the child's face) could end up hurting the child more because people might guess who the child is through association

I think they should post pictures of the faces of ALL involved - the molestors and even the face of the child. Identifying these people as quickly as possible is the most important thing

Do you think by waiting for so long and worrying too much about privacy issues, the police are putting the child, as well as other children at risk?
