Rachel Betty Case is an artist who takes finger and toe nail clippings and combines them with resin and amber to create unique unisex jewelry that she refers to as Human Ivory. She calls it this not because there is any actual ivory involved in the production, but because they use human pieces and are the colour of ivory. Case sells her work on Etsy as well as having it displayed in places like the Mutter Museum at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia gift shop as well as other well known places. Would you ever consider buying a piece of art created from toe nail clippings?

Menswear designer Sruli Recht recently created a ring that is priced to sell at $500,000. The reason that it is so pricey is that the Forget Me Knot ring, as it's called, is made of 24-karat gold and features a human flesh overlay - a flap of skin that was removed from Recht himself during a recent surgery. After being surgically removed, the 4.3" strip of skin was then salted and tanned so it could be mounted on the ring. The ring debuted in Paris recently as part of his mens Autumn/Winter 2013 collection for fashion week. Do you think someone will purchase the ring for $500,000?

In Victorian times, art and jewelry made from human hair was quite popular and elaborate. In modern times, however, the idea of artwork created from hair has fallen out of favour. Part of the reason is that people often have an aversion to hair that is no longer growing on their head. This very aversion, however, inspired a 23 year old art student from Cambridge, England to try creating artwork using hair to see if she could create something that people would find attractive enough to overcome the aversion. Spending days using broken saw blades to cut and weave strands of hair into abstract shapes, Kerry Howley ended up creating five "hair necklaces" which will be on display in London during the summer. Would you be curious enough to go see such a display if you could?

A jeweler named Columbine Phoenix has created an art series entitled "Churchyard" that uses real human bones she buys from hospitals and museums to create unique jewelery. Many people buy her bone jewelry from people who want to shock to medical professionals who appreciate the human bone structure as a work of art and engineering. Would you ever wear a piece of jewelry that was created with real human bones?

Australian silversmith Polly van der Glas has created a strange collection of silver jewelry embedded with teeth! She also uses human hair in her designs. Like the young art student from England, she is fascinated by the idea of how we often view good hair and teeth as beautiful until they are shed and then we no longer see them as having value and often have an aversion to them. Would you wear a piece of jewelry made from human teeth?
