I'm very good at checking my dates now, but once I forgot to check the date on a bottle of mayonnaise and when I got home I found a bottle I had bought had expired 5 months prior to purchasing it and was chunky. Would you complain to your store is this happened to you? Yes

Do you feel stores should check their dates on food regularly? Or is it the customers job to check? Stores should check dates regularly. That's part of thier job to clear out the old stuff!!

It's the customers responsibility to check dates. It's not the stores fault if you buy something expired.

I once bought 2 rolls of Jimmy Dean sausage that were not supposed to expire for 1 month (furthest date out of all of them). The next morning when I went to cook it, I found out the meat was rotten and had the worst smell. Have you ever purchased food that was still in date, but was spoiled, stale, or rotten when you opened it? Yes, this has happened to me before.
