I have never done a DIY, but I'd love to soon!

8 days

I love DIY projects

30 days

I am very handy when it comes to things like this. I can do just about anything with a little help. I have built walls, layed carpet and flooring, layed tile, hung drywall. I usually turn to my dad when I get ready to do something.

about 1 month

I used to do roofing for a living so that I can handle. The rest I leave up to my husband since I'm pretty much mechanically disinclined.

I learned at an early age that I could not depend on my husband to do repairs or call someone to do them so I learned to do most everything around the house, myself. I have hung ceiling fans, tied into a septic tank (which passed inspection) and refitted the pipes on my water pump. I have also done other repairs too numerous to mention. As one gentleman said, "ladies, don't you know we outlive men?" Be able to do anything. I have also taught my daughters to take care of most household repairs.

I have learned to do most anything that is required around the house or car/truck. AND, I repair my own cloths and cook. Having multiple skill is not just handy and cost effective, these days it just makes sense. I wish we had "like" icons as I like one comment by: srssimon. And to women who totally rely on their husbands, do you not know that women outlive men? Better learn how to do some of these things as when you get older and this world gets more rude, you will not have anyone to do the projects unless you got money!

I myself am not that handy. I can out some things together and do easy stuff. My husband on the other hand can (and does) do about anything from plumbing to electrical, carpet and tile laying, remodeling etc. It's so nice to have my man around the house!

Why pay someone to do what you can do yourself.
