An 89-year-old British woman has killed herself at the Dignitas assisted suicide clinic in Switzerland, in part because she found that she couldn't deal with the modern world. In an interview before her death she said that she felt email had taken the humanity out of human interaction, and said people were “becoming robots” sat in front of screens and described her horror at the rows of ready-made meals in supermarkets. She expressed her fears about the environmental impact of overcrowding and pollution and that everything today was about cutting corners. She was not terminally ill and had lived a full life but her health was fading and the idea of ending up in a hospital or nursing home was horrific to her. She ended her life March 27th.
