Some never seem to grow up, it's as Cargomate says "there is a fine line between maturity and being an adult".

I believe you are an adult when you are fully responsible for yourself. This doesn't mean that one might ACT adult. But when the decisions and consequences are all yours. You're an adult in my book.

I'm 21 and still live with my parents but only because I'm still in college and cannot afford to live on my own at the moment. I still think I'm an adult because I'm responsible and well unlike many I know my age, I'm trying to actually graduate and get a good career instead of partying every weekend. It's actually Saturday now and I'm at home.

This happens after you know that your actions are yours only. When you realize that what you do can only have been done on your own.

I think the real key is when people are honest with themselves and others and no longer seek approval for the decisions they make from others. Will take responsibility for their own actions and learn from mistakes. This includes being emotionally mature.

When you hold yourself accountable for all of your actions, paying your own bills even if it means eating dirt along the way. Being financially responsible on your own, without borrowing from family and friends; when you can loan money that you can afford to lose, b/c once you loan someone money, chances are you will not be repaid, therefore, I never lend any more than I can afford to lose which is very little.
