As Colorado continues its experiment as one of the first states to allow legal marijuana use and sales, a "high" tech solution is coming to dispensaries. Stephen Shearin is the Chief Operating Officer of the company producing Zazzz, the first pot product vending machine. It verifies a user's age using multiple cameras "that make absolutely sure that the person who swiped that card is the owner of that card," Shearin says. The machines can only be located inside a licensed dispensary so people shouldn't worry about pot getting to children. Right off, what do you think about this idea?

A customer swipes his driver's license. The machine's cameras match biometrics to make sure the person making the transaction and the owner of the driver's license are the same person. The customer pays by credit or debit card and walks out. Do you think that down the road, someone (who is not authorized to use this machine) will think of a way to bypass what it takes to purchase pot from this machine?

Products inside the machine — which could be edibles or marijuana — will be tracked with radio frequency identification chips (Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the wireless non-contact use of radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data, for the purposes of automatically identifying and tracking tags attached to objects.) Do you think have this tracking device is necessary ... for any reason?

Since the machines will be inside dispensaries and require driver's license verification, people don't have to worry about marijuana getting into the wrong hands. If laws change to allow use outside of a licensed store, security on the machines would evolve. Would you ever want pot vending machines outside a pot dispensary store, in your neighborhood?
