Fiscal-Gonzalez will receive credit for having served one day in prison but will have to pay a $500 fine and an additional $268 in court costs. The judge presiding over her case (Judge Mark Wilson) chose to withhold adjudication, meaning she won't have a criminal conviction on her record. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer John Martino arrested Fiscal-Gonzalez after he received a tip about a woman collecting conchs from a concerned citizen. The officer arrived at the house where the Texas resident was staying and found the conchs in bins outside. He told the Herald that most of the sea creatures were still alive and he was able to return them to the water. Fiscal-Gonzalez is due to return in court on August 10th when she will begin her sentence. Before reading this survey; were you aware that conch shells are living sea creatures, that they are protected, and the mollusks are also illegal to remove from the beach?
