I've been skeptical of all this business about masks and quarantines and social distancing for a while, actually since all this chaos began. I've always been wary of the government and the media but during times like this, I'm even more skeptical of the government/media than usual. I did my own research and I decided that I won't wear a mask because I think they do more harm than good and I don't think they work very well. If a store has a mask mandate, I just get curbside or shop online because I don't want to risk wearing a mask and I don't want the drama of having a fight with customers and managers. I think my research is pretty sound because, as a rule, I avoid biased sites like the CDC and CNN. I thought I was pretty confident in my opinions on this virus. I thought masks were the problem and people were naive for buying in but something has made me think differently about everything.

I really like President Trump and I voted for him in November. He's a guy who knows how to get things done, knows how to entertain a crowd and I think he is trustworthy. So anything he said about the Virus I listened to. Of course, I researched to make sure he was telling the truth, but he always was so now I just don't even bother because he has a good head on his shoulders. I think he's a decent politician and he did the best he could with the virus. Did you vote for Trump?

Anyway, enough rambling. The other day, my daughter-in-law was over to visit (she insisted on wearing a mask) and I was burning a candle or two. All of a sudden, she asked if she could blow one of the candles out because she wanted to see if she could do it with a mask. I said, knock yourself out! To my shock, she couldn't blow the candle out. She had an extra mask so I tried it myself. We both blew until we were blue in the face and... nothing! The flame didn't even flicker! I was in disbelief. Do you find this surprising?

So at this point I'm not sure about masks. I don't know how to explain what I saw that day. They say the virus is airborne, and if masks are this good at blocking our air from getting outside of the mask, maybe they were actually a good idea. I'm still not 100% sure what to think but this has definitely made me question my previous beliefs about masks. Have you ever changed your mind on something that you firmly believed because of new evidence?
