Results: Different Edition of College Books

I'm trying to buy books for the fall semester and the older editions are coming up significantly cheaper then the newest editions so I'm thinking of getting an edition that's only one behind (so 6th instead of 7th and 1st instead of 2nd). I know checking with my teachers is a good idea to make sure it's ok but I was wondering about you guys experience.
