The Canadian-born host revealed he was suffering from Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in a video posted to the show's official social media channels on March 6. "Now, just like 50,000 other people in the United States each year, this week I was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer," he said. "Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I'm going to fight this, and I'm going to keep working. "And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers, also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease," he said. Do you know anyone who has been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and has beaten it?

Pancreatic cancer occurs within the tissues of the pancreas, which is a vital endocrine organ located behind the stomach. The pancreas plays an essential role in digestion by producing enzymes that the body needs to digest fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. The pancreas also produces two important hormones: glucagon and insulin. Pancreatic cancer often doesn't show symptoms until it reaches the advanced stages of the disease. For this reason, there typically aren't any early signs of pancreatic cancer. Even once the cancer has grown, some of the most common symptoms can be subtle. Since the survival rate is very dependant on how early the cancer is diagnosed, and the symptoms are so subtle, the survival rate for pancreatic cancer is lower than many other forms of cancer. Do you know these subtle symptoms of pancreatic cancer?

No one ever replaced Trebek as host (even temporarily) once he started hosting the game show Jeopardy in '84. Even with his illness, he continued to host, joking that he "has to keep working due to contractual obligations". As far as a human being, he was respected and loved by fellow celebrities and the public, known for his humble, kind personality and his sense of humour and his long-standing commitments to numerous charities and educational organizations. He sat on the boards of the National Geographic Society Education Foundation and the National Advisory Council for the Literary Volunteers of America. He will be missed, and hard to replace. If you are a fan of Jeopardy, can you even see anyone other Trebek as host for the show?
