The kids in the movie are left to "play" all day in the motels they live in and roam freely the areas around them. They are the ages of 6-8. Although in the movie, the childrens freedoms were extreme, as a general rule do you think children of this age should be allowed unsupervised play in their own neighborhoods?
Absolutely Not! Kids of that age should be supervised at all times everywhere.

The movie trailer describes the mother as "rebellious but caring". The 6 year old uses language that includes words like b*tch and damn to adults. She talks back and disrespects adults constantly, mimicking her mothers behavior. Would you consider a parent that allows a child to act in such a way a "caring" parent?
No. A caring parent teaches their child respect and manners.

Tough call. She could be caring, but just not understand or know how to properly raise a child.

Yes. There is more to caring than language usage, respect and manners.

In one scene three kids (ages 6-8) are alone at an ice cream store begging for money. One boy says "we have asthma and our doctor says we have to eat ice cream". I thought that was funny....and very much what a child this age would come up with. How would you react to children with no apparent adults around asking for money?
I would buy them each an ice cream cone.

I have a grand daughter who is 5 1/2, and kept picturing her in this environment and just cannot imagine. But, I did think the ending which i will not spoil for those who have not seen it is exactly what she would do :) If you saw it did you like the final scene?
Yes! Very much a childs choice.
