Don't worry, we didn't forget about you. It's been 35 years since The Breakfast Club, the iconic classic dramedy, written and directed by John Hughes, debuted in 1985. It doesn't matter what year you went to high school or what school you even went to, there will always be a "criminal", an "athlete", a "princess", a "brain", and a "basket case". This movie took the so-called stereotypes and showed that we all have more in common than we think. Did you see this movie?

The five principal stars all ended up as part of "the Brat Pack," a term first prominently used in a 1985 cover story in New York magazine to describe the young actors who frequently appeared together in teen-oriented coming-of-age films in the 1980s. Besides the five from The Breakfast Club, the Brat Pack also included Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Andrew McCarthy, plus many others. This was of course, a reference to the "Rat Pack" of the 1950s and 1960s, which included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and others. Most of the members of this Brat Pack (specifically the five from The Breakfast Club) continued to have successful careers after their teen movie careers -- which of these do you know now from their more adult roles?

John Hughes passed away in 2009, leaving a legacy of films, but he is best known for this teen oriented movies of the 1980s, and the Home Alone franchise. He directed over 40 movies, so this is only a partial list, but please feel free to include any favourites I have missed. Which of his many films were your favourites?

For many of us, hearing the song "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds, immediately brings to mind this movie. Music has a way of associating with a film or memory like nothing else. Do you associate any of these songs with the movies they are from (again I have only included some of the many, of course, including some from John Hughes' movies)?
