Brent learns that during the last 29 years, despite all the time and money put into research, scientists still barely understand AIDS and don't know how to cure it. The interviews during the documentary also show how much contridiction there is among researchers about testing for HIV and whether or not HIV really causes AIDS or even exists at all. Brent also interviews several people who have been diagnosed with HIV. A couple interviewed adopted a daughter who tested negative for HIV in her country of birth, but then tested positive at her pediatrician's office in the US. She was then put on medicine that made her sick. Her parents eventually stopped giving her the medicine and her health improved. Despite being given only 2 years to live, she was a healthy 19 year old when the documentary was made. Do you think it makes sense to diagnose people with HIV when medical professionals and scientists can't agree on testing and diagnosis?
