Results: Raw Milk Safer than Spinach, Peanut Butter and Eggs?

Do you think consuming raw dairy products (from healthy animals, eating their natural diet, using sanitary milking procedures) is safe?

A survey released by the CDC on the safety of drinking raw milk (compiled from data taken from 1999 to 2010) shows that on average 42 people get sick each year from raw dairy products. Comparing this information to another survey from the CDC that states 3.04% of the population in the US (9.4 million people according to the US census) consume raw dairy products, means that raw milk is actually safer than any other food that has caused illness in the US. Does knowing this change your opinion on the safety of consuming raw dairy products?

Do you think the FDA should turn their attention (and taxpayers' money) to improving the safety of foods that have the highest rates of food bourne illness (leafy greens are statistically the riskiest), instead of creating ads focusing on the risks of consuming raw dairy products and raiding small raw dairy operations that are operating within the laws?

The popularity of raw dairy products is increasing. In 2010 sales of raw dairy products increased 25% in California, while sales of pasteurized dairy products declined 3%. Do you think the FDA's agenda might be to restrict and discourage the sale of raw dairy products (which are not connected to big dairy companies), instead of protecting the public health?
