According to Prop 2, cages for egg-laying hens must be large enough for each bird to stand up, lay down, turn around and extend her legs and wings without touching the side of the cage or other birds. Do you agree that hens should be housed in these larger cages?

Prop 2 passed in spite of dire warnings of higher food prices and/or shortages. Because Prop 2 put California egg farmers at a disadvantage, an amendment was passed in 2010 requiring that all eggs sold in California must meet Prop 2 standards regardless of where the eggs are produced. Were you aware of this amendment?

Because of Prop 2, egg prices in California have skyrocketed. This week I noticed that a carton of large store brand eggs now costs $4.69, more than double what it cost last fall. What's the largest price increase you would accept in order to keep hens in these larger cages?
