Source: Fight Like a Girl Foundation website. Help Us Help Others: We would not be able to help the many families struggling financially due to a serious medical diagnosis, put smiles on kids' faces through our Princess Program, or fulfill last wishes without donations. They are critical to our Mission and no amount is too small. For example, $10 buys gas to get to doctors' appointments or covers a co-pay on a prescription vital to treatment. $5 buys finger paints for our kids' activity days at the hospitals. When we unite as ONE, amazing things happen. Taking care of one another is what it's all about. Are you familiar with this foundation?

Why It Started: Meet some of the lives we are making a little better because of your donations. These are real families whose lives have been turned upside down because of cancer or another life-threatening medical diagnosis. We will never be able to return them to the lives they enjoyed before the doctor uttered those dreaded words but we are there for them, we support them - both emotionally and, when needed, financially. We are standing with them as ONE until we've WON. If you are familiar with this foundation, have you ever made a donation?

How It Started: The Fight Like a Girl Foundation was formed to help people in need. It's really that simple. As the founder and president of the Fight Like a Girl Club, a support group for women battling cancer and other serious illnesses, Sandy Ellis heard first-hand from ill individuals who could not afford medical treatment, families who had to trim down their grocery list to pay for prescriptions, and women who went years without mammograms because they didn't have the money to pay for one. "I was happy that the [Fight Like a Girl] Club was making huge strides in uniting and supporting women on an emotional level but I kept thinking that we have to do more," said Ellis, "we have to do something to help the financial end of things for these families." "I had one lady tell me that she and her terminally-ill husband had refinanced their home to pay for his prescriptions every month," Ellis continued, "they were on pins and needles that the money was going to run out before he passed away. That's a horrible thing to have to worry about during the last few months of your life". With her husband being forced to drop his own health insurance because of a previous cancer diagnosis, Sandy grew more and more anxious to do something to help especially after she researched and discovered that there are very few organizations out there that offer direct financial relief to families whose lives have been shattered because of cancer or another serious illness. The Fight Like a Girl Foundation was born soon thereafter. Do you know of someone that can not afford to get medical treatment, they can not afford to get medication, or they have to cut-back on daily necessities?

Volunteer Short-Term: One way that the Fight Like a Girl Foundation funds our Mission is through sponsoring fundraisers and charity events (5K event). These events occur all over the country. At each one, we are in need of local volunteers to help us pull it all together. Fight Like a Girl Foundation volunteers are an invaluable asset to our overarching Mission of helping families in need financially and emotionally and fulfilling last wishes. Uniting as ONE simply means coming together for a common cause, supporting one another, and lending a hand to those who are struggling. That's what it's all about here at the Fight Like a Girl Foundation. To become a member of the Fight Like a Girl Foundation Volunteer Team, you can fill out a form on their online website - https://www.fightlikeagirlfoundation.org/how-to-help/volunteer-short-term/ . Your name will go into our Volunteer Database and when we confirm a fundraiser or an event that we will be participating in or sponsoring in your city, we will contact you regarding the specific volunteer opportunities needed for that particular event and confirm your availability to volunteer on the event date(s). Would you ever consider volunteering at one of these fundraisers or charity events?
