Accutane (or Roaccutane) is a treatment taken orally for severe or persistent acne. Its active ingredient is isotretinoin (related to vitamin A). It works by reducing the sebum production and decreasing the the size and output of the sebaceous glands. It is considered the gold standard in acne treatment, but comes with risks.
