In my reading about media lately, i've encountered the concept of "hate-viewing" certain TV shows; that is, watching a show so out of spite and to make fun of it . I suppose this kind of hating could apply to consuming most any kind of media and many other activities, too. But how common is it among Tellwutters?
1. As it's defined in the paragraph above, are you a "hater"?
2. If you would define yourself as "hater," what do you hate on?
Comic strips (I can name a handful that may arouse my "hatred")
Magazines (does counting tossing the latest issue of Us in the trash soon as I see it in my p.o. box count?!)
Restaurants (at least one instance of this may be the first subject of my "hating" long before it was called that in print)
3. Even if you are a "hater," can you how engaging in that kind of irony is the product of a prosperous society whose paricipants are afforded an abundance of leisure time compared to its forebears?
Yes, that makes at least some sense to me.
No, that point is one that eludes me or with which I disagree.
I'm uncertain as to tha assertion.
