I think we all need some "feel good" stories at this time. Here's a few that made the news this week, for all the right reasons. A compassionate Uber driver is being praised for surprising one of her passengers with an unexpected gift. Lamiyah Jabbar had picked up Diane early one morning last week so she could take the Tim Hortons employee to work. As they were chatting during the car ride, Diane mentioned that she had been looking forward to Christmas because she was hoping to receive a new robe, house shoes, and a dress for church. Jabbar then returned to the Tim Hortons where Diane worked in Buffalo, New York so she could surprise Diane with a new dress and a $50 Visa gift card for the shoes and robe. Naturally the woman could not believe this little act of kindness that meant so much to her. And Jabbar hopes by posting this on Instagram, she can start a chain of kindness. Does this inspire you to reach out and help someone with a little act of kindness?

Singer Taylor Swift is in the news, and this time not for one of her romances or release of her album. Ayesha Khurram, 20, (center of photo) who met Swift last year after the singer performed in Toronto, is a University of Waterloo accounting and financial management student going into second year. She posted randomly on Tumblr that she didn't know how she was going to pay for her tuition this year, as Khurram's mother suffers from chronic kidney disease and her family has been under much emotional and financial stress. She said she also received less funding this year from the Ontario Student Assistance Program and her tuition is higher this year than last. Imagine her surprise when singer Swift sent her the money, with a note attached to the transfer that said: "Ayesha, get your learn on, girl! I love you, Taylor!" Do you think this was a thoughtful thing for the singer to do?

And finally, in little children showing us how to really think of others, these little lemonade stand stories should put a smile on your face. Have you heard any of these stories?

In North Carolina, with the help of her mother, toddler Ava Lewis is using revenue from her lemonade stand to give back to mothers in need. They used their profits to buy diapers and school supplies, among other things, and donated the items to a transitional facility run by the Durham Rescue Mission called the Good Samaritan Inn. The facility serves over 100 women and children who are experiencing homelessness. According to her mother, it was all Ava's idea.

Jazari Starke held a lemonade stand this summer to help raise money to donate underclothes to an upcoming back to school drive in Petersburg, Florida. The 7-year-old, who attends A.P. Hill Elementary School, said she was inspired to give back to her community because she noticed some of her school mates didn't have matching socks or bookbags.

I have noticed lately many birthday posts, wedding invitations and even baby announcements, asking family and friends that in lieu of gifts, please donate to either a choice charity or worthwhile cause that is near and dear to their hearts. Do you think this is a novel way to help others less fortunate?
