The thylacine was a carnivorous marsupial who inhabited Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea before it's supposed extinction in the early 1900's due to hunting by local farmers and bounty hunters. It is believed that other factors may have played into the decline of the thylacine including competition with wild dogs, erosion of it's habitat, extinction of prey species and disease. The last known wild thylacine was shot by farmer Wilf Batty in 1930 and the last captive thylacine died in 1936 in Hobart Zoo. Despite all this information there have been numerous unconfirmed sightings including gathered recordings from the Mystery Animal Research Centre of Australia revealing a number of 138 sightings up to 1998. Knowing this do you think it could be possible for thylacines to still exist today?
