Abrus Precatorius is a perennial climber belonging to the pea family. Also known as jequirity and rosary pea it is native to the tropics and is known for it's bright red seeds which contain abrin, a toxin with a fatal dose 75 times smaller than the fatal dose of ricin making it much more lethal. The symptoms of poisoning are identical to those of ricin; nausea, vomiting, convulsions, and liver failure occur following death several days later.

It only takes a single jequirity bean to kill an adult human by ingestion. Despite this the seeds are commonly used in India, South America and other various parts of the world to craft necklaces, rosaries, bracelets, decorate clothing/costumes and are even used in percussion instruments. Would you ever wear or use something that was crafted with jequirity beans?
