T here are several species of quail including the Gambel's, Mountain, California and Scaled. Living in the desert Southwest we have the Gambel's quail, are you familiar with any of these facts? Both males and females have a bobbing topnot of feathers

I am feeding the quail bird seed so have about 9 or 10 that visit many times throughout the day, we also have cottontail rabbits and strangely enough I find them eating the bird seed rather than the lettuce and carrots I put out for them. Are you surprised that rabbits like to eat bird seed? Yes, I find that really strange
