Results: Inventing culture

My mother told me years ago that she invented a language of her own in childhood. This intrigued me, and inspired me to try my own hand at original linguistic composition. I'm not nearly as talented at it as Mum, as I still haven't developed a definable structure to the language after all this time. That having been said, have you ever constructed a language of your own?

In my youth I also liked to pretend that my family was an unofficial micro-nation within Canada. I even considered my journals to be historical archives documenting aspects of our "micro-nation"'s "heritage". I fulfilled many roles, including princess, historian, assistant treasurer, and others. Have you ever played "micro-nation" with your home/family?

Don't get me wrong; I've always been a proud Canadian, but all the same, I still fondly regard this concept even now. Although I always left the correlation between my little micro-nation and Canada vague (never needing to strictly define it), do you agree it would be cool if you could remain legally part of the country you live in, while also being recognized as a little internal country of your own?
