In a study done last year by the University of Essex Psychology Department, researchers have concluded that in the department of sexual attraction, women are either bisexual or gay, and very seldom straight. The study, published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that women who identified as heterosexuals were, on average, strongly aroused by videos of both attractive men and women. In contrast, lesbians showed far stronger responses to women and barely any when shown the men. The researchers said lesbians were the most like men in their responses because it is usually men who show distinct sexual responses to their favorite sex. Do you think this study has any merit?

In another study conducted by the University of Notre Dame, researchers concluded that women were more likely (twice as much) than men to be bisexual or to enter into bisexual relationships. The study also found that more men identified as gay than women did. This probably is due to women being much more likely to embrace being sexually fluid than men. Do you agree with these findings?

Both studies, of course, conducted their studies on a large, but relatively young demographic -- ages 21 to 28. To truly get a more reliable data, the studies would have to be expanded and follow or update with an aging population. Regardless of if the study is expanded, clearly the younger population has a much more fluid and expanding view on sexuality. Which of these age groups and viewpoints do you fit into?

Gender fluidity and sexual fluidity are two distinct things. Many people find it hard to wrap their minds around the concept that gender and sexual attraction are not one and the same. Each of us has a biological sex — whether we are female, male, or intersex. Our gender is our social and legal status as men or women. And sexual orientation is the term used to describe whether a person feels sexual desire for people of the other gender, same gender, or both genders. Do you understand the difference between these concepts?
