We have a local, that when their kids were small (starting at age 5 years) were not allowed to see a movie until they read the book (when the movie came from a book, like Harry Potter, Twilight, etc). Do you agree?

The parent would also brag about their kids' grades, their academic accomplishments, etc ... Do you think the book reading before the movie was for herself (bragging rights) or to benefit her kids?

Do you think this added pressure, to her kids, as they went through school?

Presently, her kids are all Ivy Leaguers. Do you think reading the book before you see the movie can be credited for this feat?

Do you think the message, Grades Are Everything, is a healthy message to send to kids?
