I did a survey a few days ago about unique vacation accommodations in the U.S., and thought it only fair that I do one for Canada. First off, is actually one of the most unique places to stay anywhere in the world, and not just in Canada. The Free Spirit Spheres, Qualicum Beach, B.C. is truly a unique experience, putting you as close to nature as you can get. The spheres are surprisingly well crafted, spacious and very comfortable. And your surroundings just can not be beat -- the coastal rainforest of Vancouver Island. Would you like to stay here?

The Around the Sea Rotating House, in North Rustico, PEI is the world's only rotating rental house . It sports a 50-foot deck, overlooking National Park Beach, to which you'll have private access, not to mention all the comforts of home, plus 360 degree views. Would you like to stay here for a vacation?

If your idea of a good time is living in a fantasy suite inside a giant shopping mall, then this is your vacation destination: The Fantasyland Hotel, in Edmonton, Alberta. With its themed rooms — ranging from Polynesian, African, Hollywood, Space and so many more — this is more of an experience. But it shouldn't be surprising since it's within one of the world's biggest malls, the West Edmonton Mall. So, not only can you sleep in a fantasy suite, if shopping is your fantasy, you can shop at one of 800 shops, plus bowl, golf, swim, skate or any other activity without leaving the mall. Would this be a place you would love to stay?

Most people try to stay out of jail, but some actually pay for the experience of staying in one. Located in Canada's capital, Ottawa, in Ontario, the HI-Ottawa Jail Hostel, is located within the old Carleton County jail, which closed in 1972. Experience what it's like sleeping behind bars, whether it's in a bunk bed for an authentic prison experience or even in your own solitary confinement cell. Not exactly for the claustrophobic! Would you like to stay here?

Of course, no list of unusual hotels in Canada would be complete without an ice hotel, and this one, the Hôtel de Glace, near Quebec City, is one of the best. Where else can you say you slept on a bed of ice? With just about everything on the property made of ice and snow, it sounds chilly but you can always warm up in the sauna or hot tub or opt for the deluxe suite which boasts a fireplace. Of course, it is only open seasonally, January to the end of March. Would you like to sty here?
