Toncontin Airport, Tegucigalpa, Honduras - History Channel ranked this airport as the second most dangerous one – and for good reason! Apart from the harsh weather conditions, pilots have to make a 45-degree bank turn while dropping in altitude quickly.

Princess Juliana International Airport in St. Maarten - While there have been less accidents on this airport than others, it's still ranked as the fourth most dangerous place to land in. Surprisingly enough, this is the second busiest airport in the Eastern Caribbean, even though the runway is barely long enough for a large plane.. and it's literally on the beach. (pictured)

Tenzing–Hillary Airport, Nepal - Are you up for climbing Mount Everest? Well, in order to do that, first you need to travel by plane tot the world's most dangerous airport. Basically, the runway is 500 meters long and if the plane doesn't start by then, well, get ready to crash into a really, really deep valley.

Madeira Airport, Portugal - One extra inch and you'll crash right into the ocean: at least that's the possibility that made us add the airport to the list. Aside from having a really short runway, the landing area is built among cliffs and valleys.

MCAS Futenma, Okinawa - Located in a strategically important area for the US Marine Corps Air Station in Okinawa, Japan, this airport has bee ranked by both, the Navy and the Marine Corps as the most dangerous in the world. While the runway is pretty long, it's surrounded by thousands of houses and apartments that may not be evacuated quickly enough in case of emergency!

Gisborne Airport, New Zealand - Yep, this is one of the very few airports that has a railway crossing over an active runway – which is pretty crazy considering the speed that both vehicles can reach. (Pictured)

Congonhas Airport, Brazil - Due to the fact that the airport was designed on a small urban surface, its railway became very slippery during rain – which caused many terrible accidents over time. However, the airport proximity to houses still doesn't offer that much safety.

Barra International Airport, Scotland - This is basically the only international airport that doesn't have a railway for landing.. but a sandy beach! That's right, this is how airplanes from all over the world land here – and if there's stormy weather, you can only imagine how rough things can get.
