Contrary to popular belief, the U.S. Postal Service has no "official motto." However, if you're a history buff, a stamp collector or one who wishes he or she could hop into a box and travel the globe, chances are the mail can take you there in some way!

The remote village of Supai, Arizona still get their mail by mule. It is part of the Havasupai Indian Reservation, located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, so the main way to reach it is on foot. The only other option is by helicopter. Six days a week, a string of mules led by a wrangler on horseback makes the trip down the canyon to deliver mail and supplies. It's the most unusual method of delivery used by the United States Postal Service. Were you aware of this unusual mail delivery method?

As time and technology have changed, so has the way we get our mail. Only 3 US cities still have bike mail delivery. In one zip code (33701) in St. Petersburg, Florida, bicycle letter carriers deliver to 14,000 customers daily. The Postmaster calls it a 'best kept secret'. The bicycle letter carrier still provides pedal power to the open air post office downtown, continuing a tradition of delivery that dates back almost as long as the historic post office itself. Do you have any unusual "mail" stories you would like to share?
