I was watching a documentary the other day that gave many reasons why we should never send humans to Mars, even as we spend huge efforts and $Billions attempting to do just that. Some of our planets have such extreme hazards that they overshadow the rest. A visit to some of them would prove fatal in a matter of seconds. Here is what a visit would be like for those precious few seconds.

Some city destinations in Europe are a nightmare to park in because they are so compact and there just isn't enough room. The planet Jupiter is also impossible to park in and it takes the word "compact" literally. Even if you had a free ticket to Jupiter, which of the following would cause you to re-gift the ticket?
Jupiter has no solid surface so there is nowhere to land, build shopping malls, have amusement parks or any of the other things you might do on vacation.

On your way through the never ending atmosphere of Jupiter, you would first be battered by violent storms, including winds over 400 mph. I bit of turbulence is OK but this would require more than one barf bag.

As you descended, the pressure would rise so quickly that you'd be crushed long before reaching any kind of core. Landing at an airport may cause some inner-ear pressure. Jupiter will give you a killer headache.

NASA tells us Jupiter's radiation belts are extreme, doses hundreds of times lethal to humans, enough to kill within hours. High SPF sunscreen just won't do the job.

Saturn looks kinda pretty, what with its rings and colourful surface. You might want to take some photos of Saturn and maybe buy a T-shirt but I don't recommend you ever go there. Here are some reasons why a visit to Saturn would be memorable, not for you but maybe a grieving relative or two. Which of the following would be off-putting?
Saturn, like Jupiter, lacks a surface.

Saturn's atmosphere of hydrogen and helium would offer no oxygen to breathe. You could fill a lot of party balloons and maybe a Goodyear Blimp or two but absolutely no candles are to be lit. Question: would the hydrogen blow you up or just burn you? The question is moot anyway - see the next one.

Falling deeper, atmospheric pressure would become millions of times greater than Earth's, compressing gases into liquids and metals, easily fatal to a human.

We are running out of planets and, so far, Earth seems to be a better place to visit. You might use Google to find out about Uranus and Neptune just for your due diligence. Let me save you the time. Those two planets should not be on anyone's bucket list. Here are some of the nastier features of those two. Which of them are definite deal breakers?
Uranus is an ice giant with an atmosphere of hydrogen, helium, and methane, offering no oxygen to breathe.

Uranus surface temperatures can fall to –224°C, the coldest recorded in the Solar System.

Neptune's atmosphere, like Uranus, contains no oxygen and would cause instant suffocation.

Neptune's most lethal feature is its weather: winds exceeding 2,000 kilometres per hour, faster than the speed of sound. Combined with freezing conditions, these storms would tear apart anything attempting to survive.

If you watch or listen to the daily news, you might think our planet is a dangerous place and decide to spend less time exploring it. Most of our dangers are either fixable or at least avoidable. Unlike our other planets we can explore Earth and come back to tell about our trip. Do you plan on exploring our planet this year, even if it is just your own province or state?
