While staycations (vacationing at home) are picking up in preference, another type of trip that's always been a crowd's favorite is the classic road trip. (image generated with AI)

I love road trips. They're a lot easier to plan compared to regular trips simply because you just get in the car, pic a direction and can figure things from there. In Canada, I do this less often, but I had been doing this in both Romania (with friends from my university/work) and in Malaysia (with my wife when visiting her home) and the results were spectacular!

A very good friend of mine had a simple bucket list: when retiring, he wanted to buy a Harley Davidson and ride the Route 66. He achieved his dream and he is the most happy retiree I have known. We've kept in touch and he continues to ride whenever his wife allows him, but he does still go for day trips on the Harley to a nice cottage every so often.
Why do you usually go for road trips?
I like driving/riding so that's the whole point: put as many miles as possible and unwind.

Back in Romania I didn't have a car so I relied on friends for this. Nowadays I usually rent a car if the trip is long because I don't trust my car to last that much wear and tear.
When you go on road trips, do you use your own vehicle or rent?
