*From the British Library* "Jews throughout Nazi-occupied Europe were forced to wear a badge in the form of a Yellow Star as a means of identification. This was not a new idea; since medieval times many other societies had forced their Jewish citizens to wear badges to identify themselves. The badges were often printed on coarse yellow cloth and were a garish yellow colour. The star, which represented the star of David, was outlined in thick, black lines and the word 'Jew' was printed in mock-Hebraic type. In the Warsaw ghetto, Jews wore a white armband with a blue Star of David on their left arm. In some ghettos, even babies in prams had to wear the armbands or stars. Jewish shops were also marked with a Yellow Star. The star was intended to humiliate Jews and to mark them out for segregation and discrimination. The policy also made it easier to identify Jews for deportation to camps." Are you familiar with the Yellow Star Badge?

A friend of mine, on Facebook, shared a news story, posted by a page who is using the Yellow Star Badge for their group. They used photoshop, erasing the word Jude, replacing it with a group name (not Jewish) they are advocating for. What say regarding this?

This is offensive, as this Yellow Star represents sensitive memories and feelings to the Jewish people

It's okay, apparently they see their group on equal terms in terms of being victimized

This Facebook group (of people that is being advocating for) did not go through a holocaust, not even close. I messaged the group page and asked them to remove it, as I found it insulting, that they could even compare themselves to all the Jewish people who wore the star. Would you have done the same?

Jewish Telegraphic Agency, reported their disapproval of Billy Joel wearing the Yellow Star at a show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Aug. 21, 2017, as well as Nev Schulman, star of MTV's sort-of reality show "Catfish," wore a yellow Star of David at MTV's video awards show on Sunday, the gesture, while well meaning, seemed forced. They continued with, "I don't think anybody wants the yellow star to become this year's AIDS ribbon or Livestrong bracelet. The wearing of the yellow star seems the kind of gesture that can be made once, or sparingly, lest you diminish its shock value or begin to insult the experiences and memory of the people you are purporting to identify with and honor." Do you agree with JTA?
