This Halloween season, Target is making sure all kids can celebrate the holiday by launching a line of adaptive costumes. These Halloween costumes are the next step in its continued effort to promote inclusivity. Target's new line features creative costumes that can fit over kids' wheelchairs and walkers, and those designed for children with sensory processing disorders. Previously, many families had to get creative and put in the work to make their own adaptive Halloween costumes. Now, kids can get a princess carriage that fits right over their wheelchair. Or they can dress up like an entire pirate ship rolling on the high seas. The princess and pirate costumes also come with openings in the back to help get them on. The line includes ultra-comfy unicorn or shark costumes. Both are equipped with a hidden opening in the front pocket for convenient abdominal access if needed. Do you applaud Target's efforts to promote inclusivity?

Halloween can be overwhelming at times for anyone, but presents special challenges for children with autism. A new campaign to raise awareness for children on the spectrum, called the "Blue Bucket" campaign, was designed to alert families giving out candy and other trick-or-treaters that a child has autism, and there may be certain social cues that may be lacking. The idea is that the blue bucket (or bag, or decal -- anything blue will do) will let others know that this child may be non-verbal, may not say thank you or even make eye contact, but they are just having fun, just like all the other children. Do you agree that a campaign like this is a welcome addition?

The Teal Pumpkin Project has been popular in recent years as a way of flagging that the child has life-threatening food allergies (peanuts, etc) or just cannot have candy for other reasons. The campaign tries to promote safe Halloween trick-or-treating by firstly, alerting the homes that this child cannot have candy due to several reasons, and secondly, flag the homes that will participate by offering non-candy treats, such as little toys, pencils, stickers, etc. Are you considerate of children who may have food allergies, or cannot have candy for other reasons, at Halloween time?

If for religious or other reasons, you chose to not participate in Halloween, do you stay home with your house lights off, or go to a church or some other place to have a non-Halloween gathering?
