An Advent calendar is a special calendar used to count the days in anticipation of Christmas. Usually these calendars start on December 1st, and count down until Christmas. The Advent calendar was first used by German Lutherans in the 19th and 20th centuries. These days, these calendars are sold in pretty well every store, and offer different "treats" each day, ranging from chocolate to jewellery, and everything in between.
