If you want to enjoy winter, the best way is to get outside and really enjoy all that it has to offer. Growing up in Winnipeg (nicknamed Winterpeg by many) we used to skate, toboggan, cross country ski, build snowmen, build snow forts, have snowball fights -- basically if it involved snow and ice, the better time we had. Which of these winter weather activities do you (or did you) enjoy?

Every winter, the historic Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Ontario, transforms into the world's largest outdoor skating rink (as designated by Guinness World Records). This winter is the 50th skating season for the Rideau Canal Skateway, which each year, from roughly January to late February or early March, welcomes nearly one million visitors for winter fun. The skateway is 7.8 km (4.8 miles) in length. Have you ever gone skating here, or would you like to?

Actually, the Rideau Canal may be the largest, but there are two other skating rinks in Canada that take the distinction of being the longest -- Winnipeg, Manitoba, achieved the record of the world's longest naturally frozen skating trail by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2008, at a length of 8.54 kilometres but with a width of only 2 to 3 metres wide on its Assiniboine River and Red River at The Forks. And British Columbia's Lake Windermere Whiteway was named the longest skating pathway in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2014. The naturally frozen trail measures a whopping 29.98 km long and is located in Invermere near the Alberta border. Have you been skating on either of these?

Probably the most famous ice skating rink has to be the one at Rockefeller Center, in New York, which has been used as a movie location for years. Do you remember this rink from any of these movies?
