When telephones first became mainstream, everyone was required to wait for an operator when they picked up the receiver. Eventually, people could dial their own calls. Today, calls are rarely placed through the operator, and rotary telephones are seen as relics, rather than actual tools that people can use. But was this time really that long ago?

Push-button telephones were first released in 1962 while rotary telephones have been in use since the 1890s. Do you prefer rotary (pulse) dialing or DTMF (touch-tone) dialing? I prefer pulse dialing (rotary telephones)
