With apologizes to The Who, but this story proves that the kids are definitely not alright. Amber Petersen of Raleigh, N.C. was reading to her daughter one morning in late June while the seven-year-old played on her iPad. In the middle of her recitation, the young girl interrupted her to show her what was going on in her Roblox game. That's when Petersen saw her daughter's avatar being "violently gang-raped." Have you ever heard of the video game Roblox?

According to their official website, Roblox (which is similar to Minecraft) is the largest user-generated online gaming platform and the No. 1 site for teens and kids that counts upwards of 50 million players per month. In it, people can create their own avatars, worlds and scenarios, and interact with other users. It would appear some user-created content isn't suitable for children, although the site describes it as a "family-friendly, immersive, 3D environment." Unfortunately, this is a relatively common occurrence in the game. A scroll through YouTube reveals sexual content and violent themes, including a school shooting. Users get around the filters by misspelling codes that are banned, like using "shex" instead of "sex." A spokesman for the game said the offender was identified and has been permanently banned from the platform and they have suspended the game. Do you think children should be monitored by parents even when playing a seemingly family friendly" game?

Earlier this year, a video game called "Active Shooter" was pulled from release when the title had been criticized by parents of real-life school shooting victims, and an online petition opposing its launch had attracted more than 180,000 signatures. In the game, players are given the option to either be a shooter or SWAT team member while simulating a shooting in a school. "Pick your role, gear up and fight or destroy!" the game description on the website states. "Be the good guy or the bad guy. The choice is yours! Only in Active Shooter, you will be able to pick the role of an elite SWAT team member or the actual shooter." Do you agree that video games based on realistic scenarios like school shooting and rapes should be pulled from production?
