Interstate 10 (I-10), is 2,460 miles long and is the major east–west Interstate in the Southern United States. In Texas, it runs east from the border of New Mexico, through San Antonio, Houston and Beaumont to the border with Louisiana. Texas' segment is approximately 879 miles long. I had heard that MILE MARKERS 666 were missing on both sides between San Antonio and Houston. So on my trips between San Antonio and Houston last month I had my trusty phone camera in hand to see if this was true. Any guesses as to why the markers are missing on both sides of the highway? The markers were stolen as a prank

The markers are actually missing, and are replaced with yellow reflective signs and resembles a delineator. Do you think this is an appropriate sign? Yes

I did a quick search to see if I could find an answer. It seems Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) stopped replacaing marker 666 because it was being stolen within a week of being put up, so they decided to save the money and put up a plain object marker. Do you know of any similar incidents in your area? Yes
