You may recognize her face without knowing her name -- the original Gerber baby, Ann Turner recently turned 93. Ann just celebrated her birthday, on November 20. The charcoal sketch of Cook's angelic face as a four-month-old has adorned jars of baby food for decades. In 1928, Gerber held an advertising campaign looking for the company's new face. Cook's neighbor submitted a drawing of her face for the contest and three years later, it became Gerber's official trademark. Before the name behind the face was revealed in 1978, popular guesses of the baby's identity included Humphrey Bogart, Elizabeth Taylor, Sen. Bob Dole and Jane Seymour. Lucas Warren was named the 2018 poster baby for Gerber baby food last year, and posed with the original Gerber baby, Ann. Lucas also became the spokesbaby after a photo search. He is the first child with Down syndrome to be chosen to be a Gerber spokesbaby. Gerber has been running its annual baby contest since 2010, but before that, it was Ann's face that graced their products -- the Gerber baby never changed for over 85 years. Were you aware of this?
