The New York Public Library is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. The library first opened in 1895, and with nearly 53 million items and 92 locations, the New York Public Library is the second largest public library in the United States (behind the Library Of Congress) and the third largest in the world. The Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, commonly known as the Main Branch, is the flagship building in the New York Public Library system and a landmark in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.
