Housing Affordability in Canada

New Statistics Canada data shows that nearly one in four Canadian households were living in unaffordable housing in 2024, meaning they were spending 30% or more of their income on shelter costs. Renters were particularly affected, with roughly one-third spending above that affordability threshold. As housing costs remain high across the country, affordability continues to be a major concern for many Canadians.
