Live video streaming apps have started making waves a couple weeks ago as a way for people to host impromptu video sessions through Twitter. Meerkat launched at SXSW with brands like Starbucks, Red Bull and the Miami Dolphins already experimenting with it. Twitter then launched its app Periscope to compete.

These apps instantly stream live video directly from your smartphone to your Twitter followers. The catch is anyone with a Twitter account can watch your stream. There are no privacy controls for who see the stream.
