In Canada, some publicly funded faith-based hospitals, mostly Catholic, do not allow Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) to take place on their premises. This can force patients to transfer to another facility, sometimes causing added pain, stress, and logistical challenges for patients and their families. Provinces currently handle this differently, and Quebec is the only province that does not allow faith-based hospitals to opt out.
