As part of Member Appreciation Month, we asked our community a simple question: “What did you use your Tellwut gift card or rewards for?”
We expected some fun answers — and we definitely got those. But we also got something even better: a real look into the everyday lives of the people who make up the Tellwut community.
From groceries and bills to birthday gifts, pet supplies, and small treats, here’s what Tellwut members had to say.
Everyday Essentials: Groceries, Bills & Necessities
One of the most common answers was also one of the most meaningful: members are using their rewards for everyday essentials.
Groceries, utility bills, medication, gas, household items — for many members, Tellwut rewards help stretch the budget a little further.
“Walmart gift card to help with rising grocery prices.”
“PayPal used to pay utility bills.”
“My diabetes medication at Walmart every month.”
“Used my Amazon gift card for vitamins for my peripheral neuropathy. The Amazon gift card paid for them, it was such a joy.”
“Both me and my spouse need specific vitamins for medical conditions. My pharmacist charges more than double for what Amazon charges.”
These rewards may seem small at first, but when they help cover something important, they can make a real difference.
Gifts for Family, Friends & Loved Ones
Another big theme in the responses was generosity. Many members told us they use their rewards to buy gifts for children, grandchildren, friends, and family members.
“I have 7 grandkids so this grandma needs all the help she can get! I apply my Amazon cards to my account and save them up for Christmas.”
“I bought kitchen appliances for my youngest daughter who just moved alone into her very first apartment. She appreciated everything. ?”
“Amazon card to buy a birthday gift for my one-year-old great grandson.”
“I used it towards buying my best friend a retirement gift.”
“I always give them to a family member who needs it more than I do.”
It was lovely to see how often Tellwut rewards turn into something special for someone else.
Pet Parents Putting Rewards to Good Use
Tellwut members clearly love their pets — and many rewards are going toward keeping those pets happy and cared for.
“Used it to buy pet supplies on Amazon. Helps me out immensely.”
“Bought dog treats. ☺️”
“Walmart gift card for groceries and dog food.”
“Used my last reward to help pay for our monthly cat food order.”
“Purchased natural medication for my dog’s arthritis.”
“Bought a dental supplement for my dog’s bad breath.”
“Amazon gift cards to give to different animal charities that I support.”
From treats and food to pet care and animal charities, our members are using their rewards to support the animals they love.
Stories That Stayed With Us
Some responses were especially touching and reminded us why these rewards matter.
“I am a widow and I bank my Tellwut rewards for Christmas!!!”
Saving up rewards little by little throughout the year for one special season is exactly why these stories mean so much to us.
“I used the points to light the house again. All of the old fixtures had been removed and only wires were left hanging down. I used the points to light the house again.”
That one really stayed with us.
“All my rewards I add up and we order items to give to first responders in our area to thank them for what they do.”
We loved seeing members use their rewards not only for themselves and their families, but also to give back to their communities.
The Fun Purchases
Of course, not every reward has to be practical — and we love that too. Some members used their rewards for treats, hobbies, entertainment, and things that simply made them happy.
“Went towards my Bruno Mars tickets!”
“Fried Chicken Salad from the Cheesecake Factory!!!”
“Bought a new recliner with heat AND massage!”
“Single malt scotch. ”
“My summer flowers.”
“I ordered a comic book — King of Spies by Mark Millar. Great story and fantastic artwork!”
Whether it is a concert ticket, flowers, a comic book, or lunch at a favourite restaurant, members deserve to enjoy the rewards they earned.
The Savers
Some members are taking a more strategic approach and letting their points build up before redeeming.
“Nothing yet, letting them build up for awhile.”
“Saving up for a steam cleaner.”
“Saving for my retirement.”
Whether saving for something practical, something fun, or simply waiting for the right moment, these members are playing the long game.
Why These Stories Matter
Tellwut was built so everyday people could share their opinions and get something real in return. Reading through these responses made it clear that rewards are more than just points on a screen.
They help with groceries. They help with medication. They help buy gifts for grandkids, food for pets, flowers for the garden, and the occasional Cheesecake Factory salad.
And to us, that matters.
Thank you to everyone who shared how they use their Tellwut rewards. Your stories are what make this community feel real, personal, and worth celebrating.
If you haven’t redeemed your points yet, we hope these stories give you some inspiration. And when you do redeem, we’d love to hear what your rewards helped you with.
