The past week in Politics has been one of the most stressful and divisive in America . In this blog, we will go over results from our recent survey where we asked over 2500 Tellwut members their opinions on the recent political news.

Biden's Solo News Conference: A Mixed Performance

Last Thursday, President Joe Biden participated in a solo news conference with the White House press corps, an event he had not faced earlier this year. During the session, he made some significant errors, mistakenly referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as "President Putin" and calling Kamala Harris "Vice President Trump" in response to a reporter's question. Despite these mistakes, Biden offered comprehensive answers about his work to maintain NATO and detailed his vision for a second term. He also asserted his commitment to staying in the race, even as more Democratic lawmakers call for him to step down.

I didn't see the Orange Convict doing the same with "Tim Apple" or when he addressed Nikki Haley as Nancy Pelosi or correcting himself the numerous times when said he was running against Obama. They're both old so get over it. The difference is one is old, a good man, intelligent, and loves this country whereas the other is old, an evil bast*rd, ignorant, and loves himself." while grillo.linda47 commented something similar, saying "Why is the outcome of the debate only focused on Joe Biden? What about all the lies uttered by Trump. No one seems to mention that part of the debate. I would much more prefer Biden than a lying, cheating felon like Trump. People only see & hear what they want. Democracy will be gone if Trumper is elected. God help us all!!!"

Public Opinion on Biden's Future

In a survey of over 2,500 Tellwut members, opinions were divided on whether Biden should step aside:

50% said yes
30% said no
20% were undecided

Trump's Assassination Attempt and Public Reaction

Former US President Donald Trump is recuperating after being shot and injured during a political campaign event in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The suspected shooter was fatally shot by the Secret Service. The FBI has identified the gunman as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. Federal authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the attack.

In the wake of the assassination attempt, social media was abuzz with claims that the event was "staged." An analysis by the Israeli tech firm Cyabra revealed that 45% of the accounts using hashtags such as #fakeassassination and #stagedshooting were inauthentic.

Public Opinion on the Assassination Attempt

When asked if they believed the shooting was staged, the responses were:

30% said yes
70% said no

Praplechaos comments "I think there is something very fishy going on with the timing of his so - called assassination attempt. I'd say the word staged comes to mind" and Brewster55 comments "As to whether the shooting of Trump was staged, while I highly doubt it the timing of it does look suspicious. The authorities have been unable to find, so far, any reason for this young white registered republican male to do what he did. No history of mental illness, no affiliations with any terroist organizations, no secret manifestos,etc. They media does seem to be fixated on the fact that he did donate $15 to a liberal democratic organization in the past which could be reason enough to try and shoot Trump."

Concerns About Future Assassination Attempts

Respondents were also asked if they thought there would be more assassination attempts on Trump and possibly Biden before the election:

24% said yes for Trump
4% said yes for Biden
25% said yes for both
47% said no for both

Judge Dismisses Trump Classified Documents Case

Florida-based U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the criminal case accusing Donald Trump of illegally holding onto classified documents. Cannon ruled that special counsel Jack Smith was unlawfully appointed and did not have the authority to bring the case. Trump was accused of storing sensitive national security documents haphazardly at his Mar-a-Lago estate and possibly at another New Jersey property. Prosecutors are expected to appeal or refile the charges in D.C.

Public Opinion on Judge's Decision

In response to whether the judge was right to dismiss the case:

32% said yes
50% said no
19% were undecided

Donald Trump announced Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his presidential running mate, ending months of speculation. Trump praised Vance's talents and suitability for the role of Vice President.

Public Opinion on Vance as VP Pick

When asked if Vance is a good pick for VP:

28% said yes
30% said no
42% were undecided

He's possibly more of a degenerate than Trump. He was no more a hillbilly than I am or most of you are. America will have a stark choice this November of good versus evil. Biden and Harris versus the unfit, evil pair of Trump and Vance."

Current Voting Preferences

If the election were held today, respondents indicated their voting preferences as follows:

41% would vote for Trump
41% would vote for Biden
11% would vote for someone else
7% would choose not to vote
