Nearly two-thirds of Canadians rate the economy as bad or very bad, new survey shows
The start of a new year usually places Canadians in a good frame of mind when it comes to financial matters. When Research Co. and Glacier Media asked the country’s residents about the current state of affairs this past weekend, there was plenty of negativity in the air. Just over a third of Canadians (35 per cent) rate the economic conditions in Canada today as “very good” or “good,” down six points since our previous tracking survey conducted in late June 2023. More than three in five (61 per cent, up five points) consider them “bad” or “very bad.”

Fruit Stripe gum has been discontinued after 54 years
Ferrara Candy Company confirmed to TODAY.com that it’s discontinuing Fruit Stripe Gum, which has been tickling taste buds since 1969. “We have made the difficult decision to sunset Fruit Stripe Gum, but consumers may still be able to find product at select retailers nationwide,” a Ferrara representative tells TODAY.com in an email. Fruit Stripe came in five flavors — Wet n’ Wild Melon, Cherry, Lemon, Orange, and Peach Smash — and was striped in appropriately matching colors. Each stick contained a temporary tattoo of mascot Yipes the Zebra, too.
