Poll says more Canadian parents are against childhood vaccinations, worrying others
A new Angus Reid poll suggests the number of parents opposed to vaccinating their children has grown over the last five years in Canada. The poll published Wednesday says one in six parents say they are really against getting their children vaccinated. That's four times higher than the number of parents who held that view in 2019. At the same time, seven in 10 Canadians polled are worried about rising anti-vaccine sentiment, saying it will lead to unnecessary illnesses. The poll also found that fewer people support mandatory childhood vaccinations in schools. The study comes amid a global increase in cases of measles — a vaccine-preventable disease.

‘The big and the bad’ meet family friendly: 2024’s most anticipated new roller coasters
Every year, theme parks and amusement parks around the country try to one-up each other with new roller coasters claiming to be the tallest, steepest, longest, or first to feature a new kind of thrill. This year is no different!
‘Romantasy’ books are the new must-reads
Among contemporary readers, a few genres are reliably popular: Crime thrillers, for one, or twisty mysteries that can be turned into limited TV series, or historical dramas that speak to the current moment. But when it comes to the literary flavor that’s dominating readers’ attention in 2024, it’s clear: “Romantasy” reigns supreme. Romantasy has become a popular new term for a familiar subgenre — one that blends the otherworldly escape of high fantasy with the emotional payoff of romance novels, and it’s sweeping millions of readers off their feet. BookTok, TikTok’s hugely influential community of bibliophiles, popularized the term “romantasy” last year while discussing the work of Sarah J. Maas, a prolific writer whose “A Court of Thorns and Roses” (or “ACOTAR”) series has proven especially popular.
