Majority of Canadians support stronger rent control protections, survey shows
Two-thirds of Canadians are in favour of strengthening rent control measures and more than 70 per cent support more government investment in publicly owned housing, according to new survey data published by independent market research firm Modus Research. -TheStar
B.C. employers get $5,000 more if apprentices ‘self-identify’
B.C. construction companies which hire trade apprentices who self-identify as other than a straight, white male with no disability will receive double a new government incentive, pushing it to $10,000 for the first year of employment. The new $10 million Apprenticeship Services program, being offered by the B.C. Construction Association (BCCA) and announced September 27, providess cash incentives to small and medium-sized construction employers who hire and register first-year apprentices in up to 39 Red Seal trades. The BCCA will pay employers $5,000 for each first-year apprentice they register in any eligible Red Seal trades. However, if an applicant self-identifies as a woman, person with disabilities, Indigenous, racialized Canadian or from the 2SLGBTQI+ community, the incentive doubles to $10,000. -WesternInvestor.com

Average American takes this many photos a day
The average American whips out their phone to take a photo six times each day. A survey of 2,000 U.S. adults revealed that camera rolls are flooded with group photos with friends (66%) and family (69%) as well as photos of friends (63%) and family (58%) without them in it. Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Mixbook, a photo book brand, results also revealed that the average person has nearly 3,000 photos (2,795) in their camera roll, and would like to print out more than one-third of them (34%). -SWNS Digital
